Men Tried To Behead Soldier On London Street, Court Hears

 Two men tried to behead a British soldier in a "barbarous" killing on a London street, hacking at his body "like a butcher attacking a joint of meat" after running him over, a court was told on Friday.
Michael Adebolajo, 28, and Michael Adebowale, 22, dragged the lifeless body of Fusilier Lee Rigby, a veteran of the Afghan War, into the middle of the street so horrified members of the public could see what they had done, prosecutor Richard Whittam said at the start of the men's trial.

A mother jailed for 17 years for killing her six children in a house fire has today lost a second bid to challenge the length of her sentence.

The veteran police chief who headed the investigation into Ian Watkins's trail of sex abuse appealed today for other victims to come forward.

An Indian couple have been convicted of murdering their daughter Aarushi Talwar and their Nepalese servant, Hemraj.
The 14-year-old only daughter of dentists Rajesh and Nupur Talwar was found dead at home in May 2008 with her throat slit and a fatal head injury.
Suspicion initially fell on Hemraj until his bludgeoned body was found on the Talwars' roof just one day later.

$50 Million Worth Of Cocaine Recovered From A Boat In Ghana

Ghana's Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) has seized 400 kg of substance suspected to be cocaine on a fishing vessel in the western waters of the country.
The substance discovered in the Guyanese fishing vessel MV ATIYAH Georgetown has a street value of 50 million U.S. dollars, according to a press release obtained here Thursday from Chairman of NACOB Bafiour Assassie-Gyimah.
Arrests were made on November 19 with support from Ghana Navy (Western Naval Command), Ghana Air Force and Ghana's foreign partners .
"NACOB recognizes that the anti-narcotic crusade is a shared responsibility. In this regard, the vessel had been monitored on the high seas, and when she got into Ghanaian waters the Navy and NACOB officers arrested and escorted her to the Sekondi Naval base. " the release explained.
At the headquarters of NACOB, Xinhua's staff on early Thursday saw heavy security presence, as the suspects, five crew members including a Ghanaian resident in Brazil, were said to be under interrogation.

Ghana Introduce Condom Tax

Ghana on Tuesday backed down on a proposed tax on imported condoms after mooting increased levies on foreign-made goods as a way of cutting government debt.
Finance Minister Seth Terkper made the announcement as he presented the 2014 budget, backing parliament’s proposal last week to raise overall sales tax by 2.5%.
“The preference for VAT [value added tax] is more efficient,” he said.
